Rev. Dr. Janet Buchanan, OSB is a Benedictine monk whose daily life of communal prayer has led her to deeply long for a world where love transforms all that needs to be healed.  She shares a rich community life with the members of St. Brigid of Kildare Monastery, a dispersed, ecumenical monastic community of women and men.

For over 30 years, she worked as a healthcare executive in roles focusing on the mission and ministry of the faith-based organizations.  Her sometimes unconventional thinking flourished in each newly created position, giving her the opportunity to build a big picture vision and lead dynamic teams. 

​

Dr. Buchanan holds graduate degrees in Theology and Business and too many certifications to count (and why would you).  As a first generation college-student, she relishes opportunities to mentor young people and encourage and walk alongside emerging leaders.

​

When she isn’t reading, learning something new (currently working on certificate number ?), or enjoying a multitude of other hobbies; Janet loves spending time with her close-knit family.  She is an avid genealogist who is fascinated by the history of her six generations of Texas ancestors, recognizing she is the result of the love of hundreds.  Janet and her wife of over 30 years call the southern Pennsylvania foothills of the blue ridge mountains home.
